Sustainability Solutions for Assurant

Robert Smith attended the inaugural SEE Green Summit in fall 2008 on behalf of his employers, Assurant Solutions, along with his colleague and Green Committee member John Wairoth. Assurant Solutions occupies a recently-built building on the northern outskirts of Kingston, opposite the Invista Centre. As such, the building’s interior designers were able to plan to minimise the environmental impact of the organisation’s periodic restructuring and increase flexibility for office remodelling and movements. The modular nature of the interior walls means a greater capacity to react to changing client needs while minimising the need for more total floor area. The re-usable wall materials that are surplus to requirements after each remodelling are donated to the local Habitat for Humanity chapter on Bath Road.

And if you've had a shower today, chances are the thermal energy in the water - what made it nice and warm - was generated unsustainably too.

Okay, so what is unsustainably-generated energy?
